In this video, I discuss the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (CSSRS) and its importance in assessing suicide risk. I explain the different questions asked in the tool to evaluate suicidal ideation and behaviors. Understanding risk and protective factors, as well as safety planning, is crucial in identifying and supporting at-risk individuals. Action steps, such as creating safety plans and collaborating with mental health providers, are highlighted. Viewers are encouraged to monitor for warning signs and seek further evaluation for high-risk cases.

Working with LGBTQ Folks Through Ambiguous Loss: Therapeutic Approaches and Activities

Lyndsey Mundell, LCSW (she/they) is a clinically licensed therapist currently working in gender affirming care at the Damien Center- Indiana’s largest and oldest nonprofit serving folks who are living with HIV. They previously worked as a therapist in private practice, as a social worker, and special education aid in Indy charter schools, and as a case manager for Indiana’s Dept. of Child Services. As a person who explored their gender and sexuality later in life, they are passionate about advocating for safe spaces where kids can navigate these topics with trusted affirming adults. Through this presentation, participants will learn new therapeutic approaches/activities focused on working alongside LGBTQ students and families. .5 CEUs provided at completion of webinar.
