Learn from SSWAA leaders about the new National Model 2.0! https://www.sswaa.org/national-model The SSWAA Board of Directors approved the National School Social Work Practice Model 2.0 in December of 2023. During 2024, SSWAA engaged in intentional roll-out of the model which included listening sessions from key stakeholders, a series of webinars to provide resources for application and implementation, and a National Model launch at the 2025 National Conference including a keynote presentation and panel discussion.

Understanding Suicide Risk Assessment with Molly Kirwan, LMFT
In this video, I discuss the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (CSSRS) and its importance in assessing suicide risk. I explain the different questions asked in the tool to evaluate suicidal ideation and behaviors. Understanding risk and protective factors, as well as safety planning, is crucial in identifying and supporting at-risk individuals. Action steps, such as creating safety plans and collaborating with mental health providers, are highlighted. Viewers are encouraged to monitor for warning signs and seek further evaluation for high-risk cases.
